Sneak Peek at the Anderson-Crawford Nature Preserve
by Kayla O'Connor, PHLT Outreach Coordinator

Tucked away along Thornley Road in Stroud Township, the Anderson-Crawford Nature Preserve is PHLT's newest nature preserve open to the public. If you're looking for a peaceful walk in the woods, a quiet hiking destination, a chance to spot birds and wildlife, or an opportunity to work on your photography skills, Anderson-Crawford offers a place to slow down and explore nature.

As you wander through the preserve, you'll encounter changing wildflowers, plants, fungi, and a diverse array of wildlife. While preparing the property for public use, our staff and volunteers were thrilled to find a variety of plants, insects, birds, and other creatures calling this piece of land home. Thanks to the generosity of the land donors and the dedication of many PHLT supporters and members, we can all visit these plants and animals thriving in their newly protected habitat.

What makes Anderson-Crawford especially exciting is that it is a place of discovery. Every visit offers the possibility of finding something we haven’t noticed yet. As we continue building trails and stewarding the property, we're eager to learn more about the plants and wildlife that make this preserve unique.

We are excited to invite you to be part of that journey! Now that a trail corridor has been cleared, you have a chance to get an early look at this exciting new preserve. Join Stewardship Manager Matt Schultz for a sneak peek hike on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Lace up your boots, bring a camera, and come see this new preserve.
