Glen Run Nature Preserve
740 Bangor Mountain Road
Stroudsburg, PA 18360
Glen Run Nature Preserve was acquired in 2015. This 182-acre preserve is located just south of Stroudsburg and the overlook from Godfrey Ridge provides an excellent view of the borough below. Views from the southern edge offer a great vantage point for watching annual bird migrations through Cherry Valley. The ridge also marks a watershed divide: with the northern portion of the preserve located in the McMichael Creek watershed and the southern in the Cherry Creek watershed.
History of Churleigh Inn:
The foundation of the historic Churleigh Inn is located on the northern edge of this preserve, which also features a picturesque lake nestled among the ridges.
The life and death of the Inn's founder, Samuel Collins, is one of Stroudsburg's most intriguing and mysterious tales.
While many questions remain unanswered, a 2015 article from Pocono Record explores what we know about this piece of Stroudsburg history.
