Jonas Mountain Nature Preserve

This 417-acre preserve includes a number of prolific, cold-water springs that form the headwaters of Jonas Creek, a high-quality cold water Class A Trout stream that is a tributary of Pohopoco Creek and the Lehigh River.  Jonas Mountain Nature Preserve represents one of the largest areas of unfragmented forest in Polk Township.

The area in general is known to provide habitat to four species of special concern, approximately 160 bird species, and provides cover and forage for deer, bear, and many smaller mammals.

  • Hiking

  • Fishing (catch & release)

  • Birdwatching

  • Hunting 

Keep it clean! No trash cans are available on site, so please bring your own bag to carry out any garbage.
